Meet Coach Mo

CEO & Founder, Mann Up Athletics & Get Better or Get Beat

Maurice Mann, also known as Coach Mo, is a renowned sports performance coach in Monterey, California. As a versatile athlete during his high school years at Monterey High Toreadores, Maurice excelled as a first-team all-county and all-conference Wide Receiver. He also won championships in MBL and CCS 110 Track events and played all positions as a starter for the Monterey High Basketball Team. Following high school, Maurice attended Monterey Peninsula College under the mentorship of Coach Cass Jackson, where he earned all-conference, all-state, and unanimous All-American honors for football by 2001. He then secured a full-ride scholarship to the University of Nevada, achieving impressive stats with 50 catches, 1000 all-purpose yards, and 5 touchdowns over two seasons.

In 2004 Maurice was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals as the 149th pick in the 5th round of the NFL. Maurice’s professional football career spanned 4 seasons in the NFL and 7 seasons in the CFL, culminating in his role as a CFL All-Star and Grey Cup Champion with the Toronto Argonauts.

Beyond his playing career, Maurice has made significant contributions to football coaching. Renowned for his motivational approach, innovative strategies, and adept player management, he excels in developing both offensive and defensive schemes, analyzing game footage, and imparting fundamental skills.

Through his programs at Mann Up Athletics and Get Better or Get Beat, Coach Mo has successfully sent over 150 athletes to college with sports scholarships.

Notably, Coach Mo served as the Offensive Coordinator and Wide Receiver Coach at the prestigious Stevenson School for the Junior Varsity team for two years, where he developed players’ skills and strategies. He currently holds the same role for the Varsity team, further honing his coaching expertise.

Maurice is a licensed and certified personal trainer through the National Federation of Personal Trainers (NFPT) and has been dedicated to sports performance training since 2007.
