Rules
Every GBGB event runs to one standard. Know the rules before you take the field.
- ▸All rostered players must provide valid age verification prior to their first event.
- ▸Teams may carry a maximum of 20 rostered players; no player may appear on two rosters in the same division.
- ▸Coaches must be certified and background-checked through the GBGB portal before sideline access is granted.
- ▸Games are 7v7, two 20-minute halves with a running clock that stops only in the final two minutes of each half.
- ▸The field is 40 yards wide by 80 yards long plus a 10-yard end zone at each end.
- ▸Each team has four downs to reach midfield for a first down; failure to convert turns the ball over on downs.
- ▸All players must wear soft-shell helmets and mouthguards — no exceptions.
- ▸Cleats must be rubber-molded; metal cleats, spikes, or detachable studs are prohibited.
- ▸Jerseys must be tucked in and display a unique number on the front and back.
- ▸Touchdowns are worth 6 points; conversions are 1 point from the 5-yard line or 2 points from the 10-yard line.
- ▸Tied games at regulation go to a best-of-three 2-point conversion shootout from the 10-yard line.
- ▸The higher seed elects to attempt offense or defense first in overtime.
- ▸Unsportsmanlike conduct results in a 15-yard penalty and ejection from the current game plus the following game.
- ▸Fighting is an automatic tournament ejection and may result in season-long suspension.
- ▸Coaches are responsible for the conduct of their players, staff, and spectators at all times.
- ▸All protests must be filed in writing with a $100 fee within 30 minutes of game completion.
- ▸The fee is refunded if the protest is upheld.
- ▸The tournament director's ruling is final and may not be appealed.
