Fitness International, LLC, one of the nation’s largest health club operators, has announced a wide-reaching new initiative aimed at bolstering youth health in the wake of the Presidential Administration’s efforts to reestablish the iconic Presidential Fitness Test. Starting this fall, high school students aged 16 and older will be eligible for complimentary after-school and weekend access to select LA Fitness and City Sports Club locations as part of a company-wide push to support youth fitness for the 2025/2026 school year.
This program, launched in partnership with local high schools, is Fitness International’s response to the White House’s renewed call for better youth health, nutrition, and physical activity—an effort marked by the President’s late July executive order to revive the Presidential Fitness Test. The test, a familiar benchmark for generations of students, is set to return as part of a nationwide campaign to combat declining youth fitness and promote healthier lifestyles.
Jill Hill, President of Club Operations at Fitness International, emphasized the company’s deep commitment to the cause: “We are committed to ensuring that our high school students have greater access to fitness and fun. Our support of the national push for youth fitness, nutrition, and the reestablishment of the Presidential Fitness Test, reinforces our company’s longstanding commitment to health and wellness for all. We look forward to welcoming more students to our gyms and assisting the Administration in their mission to help our young people build stronger, healthier lives.”
The initiative will roll out in phases, with some locations piloting the program as early as September and a broader rollout anticipated throughout the academic year. There will be no cost to students who participate, further lowering barriers for teens seeking access to quality exercise facilities and healthy activities.
Fitness International’s move has been widely noted as a meaningful joining of public and private efforts to address youth wellness in America, harnessing the reach of the fitness industry to reinforce national goals for the next generation’s health.
